Halloween!

Halloween was lots of fun this year. We made a few more craft projects this year than last since William could enjoy them more and since Mommy organized the church Halloween carnival. Our house had a jack-o-lantern above William's toy box, ghosts floating in front of our house, Frankenpumpkin guarding our door, jack-o-lanterns on William's bedroom door, pumpkins, cats, and ghosts drawn on the windows, and then the carnival projects that were stored here at the house until they were transported to the carnival--a bean bag toss that Mommy painted and decorated, pin-the-nose-on-the-jack-o-lantern that Mommy made, pumpkin shaped cookies made by Mommy and icing colored by Mommy (no, she didn't make it from scratch this time and since orange icing was gone from the store shelves, she mixed in her own orange).

By the time Halloween rolled around, William had learned the word pumpkin and had developed a taste for candy corn--the chocolate Indian corn variety. The carnival was lots of fun. William played all the games (except for bobbing for apples), and the bowling game from his birthday party was once again a big hit. William even had his fortune read, and the picture is so cute--he looks like he is really apying attention. As to what his fortune was, I don't know. Mommy ran over to take a picture, but MeMa and Jake were the ones watching him at the time.

Trick-or-treating was fun, too. William could walk around this year, and he quickly caught on to the routine. While he couldn't quite say trick-or-treat, he did say thank you for his candy. He loved the giant blow up pumpkin man in the neighborhood and had to visit it a long time until he had studies every bit of it. When we got to the last house, he had his cute routine down pat. He was given a full size Hershey bar which he took and put into his basket. Then he reached out his hand and wiggled his fingers to show he wanted more, and he got a second bar to put in his basket! He put his hand out a third time, wiggled his little fingers, and won himself a third bar! When we left, he knew exactly which house belonged to MeMa and Jake (our street goes elsewhere for Halloween, plus one child was just out of the hospital with pneumonia) and he walked right back to their house and asked to get in to the garage where the toys are kept. Seeing as it was dark outside, we led him inside where he spent the rest of the evening playing chase with Jake. Even with the time change, William slept through the night and didn't wake until 7:00, which used to be 8:00.

Cutie pie lion had a blast!
