March 5--Bananas and Peaches

William and Mommy were having breakfast this morning before Aunt Jamie and Samuel came over to play. William was trying a new puree, bananas and peaches with granola, mixed with his oatmeal DHA. He had stopped eating for a little while to rub his eyes and spread his breakfast into his eyebrows and hair, so Mommy, in an effort to grab his attention again, began to sing a little song. "Yum, yum, bananas and peaches." (complicated lyrics and melody) While she was singing, William stared at her, and the little wheels in his brain began spinning. He began to move his mouth as he processed the sounds Mommy was making. Finally he tried to sing along--"Nanas!" SO much fun!

A little while later into breakfast (yeah, breakfast takes 45 minutes when we are learning, too) William again stopped eating to investigate his tongue. He started sticking it out of his mouth--it has never really curled out over his lips before. He then seemed as though he was about to lick his little lips to get the bananas and peaches off. Mommy showed him how she can lick her lips, and a curious little hand reached forward with an index finger extended so William could touch Mommy's tongue. Again, "Yum, yum, bananas and peaches!"
