William has had his first real experience with the freedom of country spaces. We arrived in South Carolina on Thursday which was Mary's and Jason's moving day. We went to Greenwood to help watch Austin while they took care of business matters--carpet cleaners, gas guy, electric guy, etc. William got out to the front yard at one point and took off running down their l-o-n-g driveway. He kept going even when I called him back. He saw the road spread out in front of him and took advantage of it.
Yesterday, on Easter, after the morning egg hunt provided by the Easter Bunny; after church; after pictures with the cousins and lunch (only nibbled), we went for a walk on the farm. We had a whole party: Mommy, William, Granddaddy, Chris, Elizabeth, Spires, Mary Elizabeth, Yates, Erin, Brennan, and Keith. William and Spires ran down the path to the old barn. They chased each other through the pasture on the way to the pond. They got to see a giant black snake. When we reached the water's edge, William was ready to jump in, but Mommy was able to convince him to just play in the water with a stick. William then used the stick to baptize William and Mommy with pond water. We then continued our walk around the pond and through more pastures, going full circle around the farm. William got to ride on Mommy's back and then her shoulders most of the way back. He really enjoyed those wide open spaces.
