Once again I am playing catch-up with William's blog. How different my blog updates are now than when I started. I updated William every single day with pictures and stories. Gradually it went to every few days to once a week, but now it is once a month. Bad Mommy.
OK, so Christmas was fun this year with William looking for Marzipan, his elf on the shelf, every morning. William was most surprised the one day when we found Marzipan in the kitchen, and Marzipan had eaten a cookie! William was a little upset that one of his cookies was gone, but he thought it was really neat, too.
William also had his selection of recorded TV shows that he watched--over and over again. The Polar Express, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Choo-Choo Express, Special Agent Oso's Living Lights Special. Oso's special taught him new songs. It told all about the lights of the season: Advent wreath candles, the monirah. They also sang "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" and a song for Hannukah. One night I was putting William sleep when he started singing. It took me a minute to figure out what he was saying. Finally I understood. He was singing, "Hannukah, Hannukah, Festival of Light" just like Paw Pilot sang on the show. He even started singing the song on Christmas Eve at Bee Bee and Granddaddy's house.

William's class at school sang "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" at their Christmas show. He was very excited and sang the song every day. When they performed, William had his nose painted red, and he wore his cap and mittens with a snowflak sweater and just bounced and sang throughout the entire song. So cute!
William's class party was Thursday, December 23, the day before break. Mommy and Daddy also had school that day and are not allowed to call out that day. Therefore Jake went to the party with William. A couple of days before, Mommy asked Daddy to call Jake about the "P-A-R-T-Y", to which William called out, "I want to go to the party!" What! When did he learn to spell?!? Oh, ok. Whew. I guess the spelling does sound like the word.
William has a strange fascination with snakes. He thinks they are cool, but he doesn't want to be close to them or touch them--even stuffed toys. He was invited to a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's and won tickets for a prize. We picked out a tiny plastic snake. A few days later, the snake was on the floor of his play room. William stood half-way across the room and said, "Mommy, snake!" I said, "That's the snake you got at Matthew's party." He replied, "No, at Chuck E. Cheese."

On Christmas Eve, all the little children at Bee Bee's and Granddaddy's house (William, Austin, Spires, Mary Elizabeth, Hutch, and Quin) were running around having a good time. After a while, the energy got out of control for a few of them, causing Austin to retreat to his Mommy's lap and William to stand at the edge of the noise and say, while pointing his finger, "Bad boys! Bad boys!" I had brought the fixings for reindeer food and figured it was time to bring it out. The little children, ages one to three, sat good as gold holding on to their little plastic bags and I poured oats and glitter into the bags. They sat patiently as the bags were zipped shut and their names were written on them. After everyone went home, we bundled William up and took him outside to sprinkle the reindeer food in front of Bee Bee and Granddaddy's house so Santa could find us since we were not at home. William did a great job! Christmas morning, we went back outside to see if the reindeer had found the food. When William saw it had been eated, he said in a worried voice, "Dogs ate it!" We told him no, the reindeer ate it! Santa had found us! Then we went inside to look in the living room. William's jaw dropped as he found a reindeer pillow pet that Santa had left. The reindeer food really worked!
Packing up from Christmas was hard this year. Mommy was ready to clean up the house, but William was upset about his things being put away. He was especially upset that Marzipan was gone. He still asks from time to time where he is, and we have to assure him that Marzipan is at the North Pole with Santa making toys. William didn't like his ornaments being put away, and he got very upset yesterday when we finally packed away the Build-a-Bear Rudolph, Clarice and Christmas Moose.
