Christmas morning, we were given a special gift--a positive pregnancy test! A week later, Mommy started feeling sick, but I was ok with ginger ale. Daddy and Mommy got our first ultrasound on Thursday, January 13, and we showed the picture to William, explaining to him we are going to have a baby and that he is going to be a big brother.
Each day he checks on the baby, asking me if the baby is growing. He also asks if it is a baby sister. We tell him we don't know, that it could be a baby brother. Either way, he will be the big brother.
Last Sunday, Mommy got really sick for the first time. While Mommy hugged the toilet, William came up behind me and rubbed my back and looked on with such concern. Later in the week, he and Daddy went to the store and got me more ginger ale. William came home, found me upstairs in bed and said, "You need ginger ale?" I said, "yes please," so he ran downstairs and soon came back upstairs carrying a can for me.
As the week went by, the sickness eased up again, but one afternoon we were sitting playing with his trains and he looked at me and said, "You sick? You need ginger ale?" Oh, my sweetheart!
