morning conversations
William slept in Mommy and Daddy's bed last night. Daddy woke up early and went downstairs, leaving Mommy and William to sleep in a bit. About 6:45, William started to stir and then put his face across the pillow from Mommy's face. "You waking up?" "Not yet. I'm sleepy." "Wake up. Got to go school." "No, we don't have to go to school today. It's Saturday." "Go to school on Saturday." "No, no one has school today. You get to go to the grocery store with Daddy." "Oh yeah! Where is the list? You have list?" "Daddy has the list." "Let's go downstairs get Daddy." "You can go." .....Pause. "What happened to Bee Bee's house?" Wondering if William is now having premonitions, Mommy said, "What happened to Bee Bee's house?" "It very far away." "It is far away." "Austin is far away." "Yes, Austin is far away, too." "Spires' house is far away." "Spires' house is far away." "Spires is sleeping." (Spires was sleeping in the car the last time William tried to call him. Now Spires is always sleeping.) Daddy came upstairs. "We go food store!" Daddy: "Are you ready to go? Let me get in the shower." "Where is list?" "Here is is--it is on the Winnie the Pooh paper." William, reading list, "Milk, juice, cheese."
