Oh! He is only playing!

Mommy has been having trouble with William: he has been biting her! While she sits on the sofa, he will walk up to her and, with a smile on his face, bite her leg! Ouch! Mommy gives a stern, "No!" to try to stop him, but he only smiles. Daddy joins in with a "No, that hurts Mommy!" and he just smiles with a giggle. Even when Mommy tried to pop his hand, he would giggle--not good! The only remedy was to move away--removing the temptation. (Yeah, we thought that was just for toys or other stuff, not for body parts!) Finally Mommy figured it out...

William was climbing up on the sofa with Mommy, and she gave him a "zrrbrrt" on the belly. (If you grew up Cosby, you know what that is. Otherwise, it is blowing on the belly and making a noise.) William laughed and laughed. Mommy gave a "zrrbrrt" to his arm, and he laughed again. Then William opened his mouth and went for Mommy's leg. Ouch! The teeth again! But this time it clicked. He wasn't biting Mommy--he was trying to "zrrbrrt" her! He was playing, which is why he laughed every time. Mommy gave him a quick lesson, showing him she was not using teeth but just blowing. (He has already learned to blow a whistle, and he has tried to figure out whistling, so it was not a completely new concept.) He then tried to "zrrbrrt" Mommy's cheek. She braced for a bite, but there were no teeth! There was no sound either, just a wet, open mouth, but it was completely sweet! William was trying to play Mommy's game!
