Adventures

Since Christmas, we have been busy sorting William's new playworld and going on day-long trips. William got two trains for Christmas, and those trains are carried all over the house with William "chugga-chugga"-ing all over the place while calling the "all aboard!" To make room for the train tracks, Mommy left the living room in the arrangement for the Christmas tree, but instead of the tree in front of our window, we have a train village. Our next-door neighbor gave us a box of toys around Thanksgiving, but Mommy didn't even unpack them because of our lack of space. When she finally got around to exploring the box's contents, she found a little people barn with animal sounds, a Bob the Builder playset, and a Disney roadway that looks as if it could be a model for the jungle cruise. The road is perfect for all the Tonka cars, trucks, and trains William got for Christmas. This road also works as a tunnel for the Thomas the train set as Thomas speeds his way under the mountain.

The adventures do not stop at our living room. William takes turns riding the rocking horse Santa gave him and the blow-up horse he got at the rodeo in September. We have purchased an organizer for William's toys (thank goodness for after Christmas sales when everyone needs to be organized).

We went to Winterthur the last weekend of their Yultide celebration. We had never been, and since they extended the celebration an extra two weeks, we were able to fit it into our schedule. The trees were pretty, but we were disappointed that we were taken on the same tour we had been on without any new rooms or new information. A few bits and pieces were included about their Christmas rituals, but not enough. Mostly it was because we had a bad tour guide--something we have never experienced before. In the courtyard, they had a movie set up on a big screen. Actually the movie flipped back and forth between scenes from Holiday Inn and Philadelphia Story. The guide could not tell which movie a certain scene was from--Mommy had to help her out. Let's see if you can figure it out. Fred Astaire is dancing and throwing fire crackers onto the ground. Tough one, huh?

William and Mommy joined a playtime at the library group. Our first meeting was last Thursday, and William hit it off with two little boys just about two months older than two. We go back tomorrow, and hopefully William will allow Mommy to return the book he checked out--Grover learning to go to the potty. William likes that there is a "pop-up" page that lets him flush the potty.

We have also been around the neighborhood playing with Adelyn and then Zane, and we had a playdate with Aidan and John. Lots of fun!

Tonight we went to dinner with Jake and MeMa to celebrate Daddy's birthday. William was so good! He sat for an hour and a half at the restaurant without making a fuss. We then came back to the house for cupcakes and tea, and Daddy pulled out his new guitar hero game for MeMa and Jake to try. William pulled out his own new little guitar to play along.

Now the house is quieting down. Jake and MeMa have gone home. Daddy is catching up on his DVRed TV shows, and as soon as Mommy finishes this thought, she is following William who is upstairs sound asleep.
