Mommy tutored a student tonight in algebra, so William was up about a half hour later than usual. Because of this extra time, he got to see Nina and Star sign off for the night and do their good night routine-- After Star falls asleep in his bed, Nina goes over to Hush the fish to make her good night wish. She says a little poem to the fish and then asked the audience if they would like to sign the poem with her. As she repeats the poem, the demonstrates it in sign language.-- William, who was watching with rapt attention, started moving his little hands around to mimic Nina! I have never seen him do that before, and again, William is not normally up at that time to see this routine. When we went upstairs to say good night to Daddy, I told Daddy how William was signing with Nina, and, on cue, William wiggled his little hand and said "fish!" That little boy is too much!
As a side note, William accompanied Mommy to school so she could begin the process of placing her school supply order for next year. He was so good! We were at the school for two hours, and he was on his best behavior. He was a little leery of some of the students (understandable because they are 7th and 8th graders), but he smiled at the adults. Mostly we hung out in the library. William loves libraries. He found Mr. Mendelsohn's Curious George and wanted to look at it (he also wanted to look at his Mickey Mouse, but as it was a talking, heavy toy, Mickey stayed on the shelf). To my surprise and William's delight, Mr. Mendelsohn gave George to William. William has not put George down! We came home and read the two Curious George books Aunt Mary gave him for Christmas, and George is now another friend in William's crowded crib.
