head-strong boy

William is proving to be quite the head-strong boy. While this determination leads to head-aches for Mommy and Daddy, it also leads to humor when we can step back and look at the whole picture.

Today gave us three new incidences. William needed a nap after church. He started falling asleep in the cart at the grocery store after church, and he nodded off in the car. When we got home, he first wanted to be left in the car to sleep, but as it was cold out, and just not safe, we managed to get him inside. Once inside, he wanted to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse "jungle" three times. The fourth time, Mommy switched to the last bit of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse "Choo Choo Express." When he wanted a fourth "jungle," he was taken up to his room to read so that he could go to sleep. That lead to tears and crying and demands to "get out of bed" thoughout the readings of The Polar Express and Jesus the Little New Baby. Mommy tried to get William to lie down, but he started crying even more until Mommy asked him which blanket he wanted: the blue one or the froggy blanket. He made his choice of the blue blanket and then laid down to be covered up. He was able to decide on his blanket, so he was again in control and would take his nap. (Why didn't I ask for his choice earlier?) With a final request of a reading of the dog book (Marley's Christmas), William went to sleep.

After William woke from his nap, he settled onto Mommy and Daddy's bed until he went into his playroom. Daddy informed Mommy that William was sitting in his poopy. Mommy questioned what in the work he meant--did William go to the potty? William said, "I want to sit in poopy!" To which Mommy said, "William, we need to change your diaper so it doesn't leak." Daddy said, "Sitting in poopy is nt good for your bottom." And William cried,"I want to sit in poopy!" We then had to fight to change his diaper, and after tag teaming him, we got him cleaned, powdered, and in a new diaper.

While Mommy worked on church business, Daddy was cleaning the master bedroom. He finally came downstairs and turned on the football game. He then told Mommy it was her turn to fix the DVD. Mommy asked what is wrong with the DVD, and Daddy said William decided he did not want all the episodes of Chip and Dale to run straight through; he is selecting certain episodes. "I want choo-choo." "I want pancakes." Really? He has watched that DVD too many times.

P.S. He just came downstairs demanding, "I want more Donald," to which we reminded him for the hundredth time today, "You need to say 'please'."
